It’s day one of cookie week 2017! Each day this week I will be bringing you a new cookie recipe to satisfy your sweet tooth! To start, here are some Perfect Sugar Cookie Wreaths. They are perfect because the cookie is delicious, and they are also impeccable circles. Completely foolproof.
These sugar cookies are light and fluffy and super soft, which are just the way I prefer them. And while the cookie itself is delicious, the fun part is how I made them! Many months ago, I saw the lovely The Floured Table throw some chocolate chip cookies in her donut pan and I was inspired, and I instantly knew I had to give it a try. And sure enough, not only does baking cookies in a donut pan WORK, but it’s also a foolproof way to make these circles! Which are perfect for wreaths this time of year. If you’re looking for a fun little twist on your holiday cookies this year, give these Perfect Sugar Cookie Wreaths a go!

Icing
- In a small bowl combine the milk, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Add a little more milk if needed to get the desired consistency. Add in green food coloring to achieve a dark green shade.
- Dip the top of the cookies in the icing and place on rack that allows the excess to drip through. Decorate with sprinkles before the icing sets.

December 11, 2017I thought these were donuts at first – they’re so cute! So does the cookie come out crunchy all around or is it a soft sugar cookie? Or is the texture more like a biscuit because of the extra baking powder and rise in the dough? I’m so intrigued! They look delicious.

December 11, 2017Thank you Marlynn! They come out with the texture of a sugar cookie with a soft crumb, no different than if you baked them on a sheet. The baking powder adds the nice height but it isn’t quite as crumbly as a biscuit. And the only crunch is from the sprinkles!

December 12, 2017This makes me want to get a mini donut pan! They look so tasty and I love the green color you achieved with the frosting. Looks like a nice cookie to leave for Santa on Christmas Eve, too.
