Mmmmmmmm….apple crisp. The cozy cousin of apple pie. Despite seeing so many festive, creative, and unique recipes for Thanksgiving desserts, this year I opted for a classic.
The last few years I have been put in charge of dessert for our family Thanksgiving. I always try to do something a little bit different, but holiday appropriate, but this year, I wanted apples and ice cream.
I adapted this recipe from one I found on allrecipes.com. And to quote my 3 1/2 year old nephew, it was “delicious and sweet.” It was gobbled up by the family with a side of vanilla ice cream, and I forgot to take a picture until we were all stuffed. There were enough leftovers for a whole other days worth of dessert too! The topping crisped up perfectly giving it a well balanced texture between the apples and the crumble. It was such a warming dish and this fruit filled treat was the perfect conclusion to the Thanksgiving feast. I might have to make this one again just to snack on throughout the week!
