Lamb Burger with Mint Basil Pesto

Lamb Burger with Mint Basil Pesto

Lamb. Burgers. I’m a huge burger fan and have finally been attempting to make amazing burgers at home. This Lamb Burger with Mint Basil Pesto has classic flavors and is so juicy and succulent and is basically mouth watering yumminess.

First off, this was supposed to be posted ages ago! Camera problems and life things (recently moved!) all meant I had to wait to get this up. But here it is! I know the pictures aren’t the best, but someday I’ll make these again and fix it. Promise.

This mint basil pesto is salty, herbal, minty, basil-y, cheesy and overall divine. It is super multi purpose but the freshness cuts through the richness of the lamb really nicely. Meanwhile, the patty is filled with cumin, coriander and cinnamon which gives the meat a really great sweetness and warmth. Together, these flavors are SO good. If you’ve never made a lamb burger I highly recommend you make this Lamb Burger with Mint Basil Pesto!

  • Add all of the pesto ingredients to a blender or food processor. Blend for about 2 minutes or until it is well mixed. If the consistency is too thick, add more olive oil 1 tsp at a time. Set aside.
  • In a small sautee pan, Heat a little bit of olive oil and the sliced onion. Cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes stirring occasionally. Set aside.
  • In a medium size bowl, combine the lamb, coriander, cumin, cinnamon and salt and pepper. Mix with hands until spices are well distributed, but do not over squeeze the meat. Form ground meat mixture into 3 patties.
  • Heat a cast iron skillet or pan over medium high heat. Add 1 Tbsp. olive oil. Place all three patties in the pan and cook for 3 minutes on each side. If meat has not reached 165 degrees, place skillet in a 350 degree oven until it has reached your desired temperature.
  • To serve, spread pesto on both sides of the bun and add the burger patty and onions. Serve hot.
